How many times can you miss BNI? ›

A member may not miss more than three meetings in a rolling six-month period. Upon their fourth absence their classification may be opened by the Membership Committee. BNI® makes it easy to be in attendance by using the Substitute Program.

BNI cons: Time-consuming - you get out what you put in, so to do well you will typically have to invest at least 4-8 hours of your time every week. This includes travel, attending meetings, one-to-one's with other members, finding visitors for the group, and finding referrals for other group members every week.

The members who have fewest absences close the most business. Fewer absences = more referrals. Three absences in six months (the maximum) lead to 73% less business. Has your chapter taken steps to improve attendance?

Although employees may accrue more than five days of paid sick leave under the one hour for every 30 hours worked accrual method (or under an alternative accrual standard), the law allows employers to limit an employee's use of paid sick leave to 40 hours or five days during a year.
