We, stand in solidarity with Principal Abdul Muhammad and other affected principals in demanding justice, accountability, and systemic change within Chicago Public Schools (CPS). We are deeply troubled by the actions taken to remove Principal Muhammad and the violation of principal rights that have occurred. We believe that it is crucial to address these issues to ensure fairness, equity, and integrity within the education system.Even before Abdul Muhammad was named Principal of Lindblom High School, efforts were made to prevent the Local School Council from selecting him for the position. Kishasa Williams-Ford, Devon LaRosa, and a group of white Lindblom teachers harassed members of the Principal Selection Committee, seeking to influence their decision against Muhammad.When these attempts failed, a series of appalling acts were perpetrated to create public failures for Muhammad. The rights of the Lindblom Local School Council were disregarded by CPS officials, who overlooked documented instances of theft of school funds by a Lindblom teacher. This teacher and her allies were encouraged to gather and fabricate misinformation about Muhammad.Moreover, the CPS Law Department played a complicit role by launching biased investigations and engaging in one-sided investigative practices aimed at prejudicing and convicting Mr. Muhammad without credible evidence. It is evident that internal corruption, religious bigotry, and conflicts of interest have targeted and victimized Muhammad.Principal Muhammad's case is emblematic of a larger issue concerning the violation of principal rights within CPS and the city as a whole. Last year, a group of black male principals united to address inequitable district policies and practices. This petition is born out of a personal tragedy. A 16-year-old non-binary student, Nex Benedict, was brutally beaten to death by three older girls at Owasso High School in Oklahoma. This horrific incident did not occur in isolation but followed a wave of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric spearheaded by our State Superintendent Ryan Walters. His extremist views have not only fostered an environment of hate and intolerance but also endangered the lives of our children.Recently, he went as far as hiring stochastic terrorist, Chaya Raichik, known for her role behind the infamous social media hate machine, "Libs of TikTok," even though she doesn't live in Oklahoma, have children who attend school here, nor does she have any qualifications to justify hiring her for the position.Her only connection to Oklahoma come by way of her social media platform. Just weeks prior to her hiring, one such instance, typical of her posts, actually led to multiple days of bomb threats and school evacuations in an Oklahoma elementary school after one librarian was targeted by her platform.Our LGBTQ+ kids deserve better than this; they deserve a safe learning environment free from hate and fear. The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) has scheduled a construction project for Horsepen Bayou that will destroy the bayou and will not be an effective way to mitigate flooding. The project, as depicted on the HCFCD website, is drastically different from the actual construction documents that were acquired via a Texas Public Information Act request. The construction drawings show what actually will be done.The great degree of devastation includes:Almost all trees and vegetation will be removed from both banks, and the bayou will be widened up to sixty feet and steep banks will be created.All wildlife, including bald eagles and over two hundred other species of birds, will be displaced by the removal of their natural habitat.Five native American archeological sites will be destroyed.Pipelines, including ones containing highly volatile chemicals, and an old drilling site, will be disturbed.The area will essentially become a retention ditch for upstream flooding.Area property values will be negatively impacted.There are viable alternatives, for example, the proposed upstream retention ponds. The engineering plans also did not calculate the increased mitigation achieved by Exploration Green.Once Horsepen Bayou has been destroyed, the natural habitat and the Native American archeological sites will be lost forever. Establish October 20th as National Sasquatch Awareness Day

October 20 should be declared "Sasquatch Awareness Day" in both the USA and Canada.Why October 20th? : The famous Patterson-Gimlin footage (now recognized as legitimate film footage by scientists who study the subject) was obtained on October 20, 1967.Sasquatches are real animals. They are very intelligent creatures that pose no threat to humans. They are rare and nocturnal, but have a wide geographic range. The Assembly Bill No. 1266, allows: Biological men who identify as females to participate in female sports divisions, use female restrooms, and use female locker rooms in grades K-12. We are not saying all transgender people in California shouldn't use their preferred restroom. We are saying MINORS in school trying to enter their preferred gender sports division, restroom or locker room is wrong. Why should biological female students feel uncomfortable that there could be a biological man in their restroom or the locker room while they are getting undressed and changing clothes? They shouldn't. This law shouldn't allow 5 to 18-year-olds, on school property, to choose what they want based on their preference. Assault is not our main concern, our concern is we have to obey the law that makes us girls feel uncomfortable in a space where we are going to be wearing our bras and underwear or changing a pad. We are women. Biologically by birth, we are born women, so why must we adapt for a biological man to enter our space just so they feel more comfortable even if we women don't? This is not discrimination or a hate crime driven by transphobia. We are female students afraid of men identified as female seeing us change in locker rooms and using our restrooms!So what are you signing for? Either the complete ban of this bill or making a third restroom for transgender males, females, or non-binary people.

Downtown Tabernacle, where stands a stately manor house, we know as Town Hall. She was built by The Order Of Saint Mechanics, for their Junior Order Of American Mechanics Hall, OUAM for short, in 1874. In 1960, after World War II, as membership dwindled, the Juniors voted to donate their hall to the Township Of Tabernacle, for use as it's Town Hall. This beautiful building has honorably served as the heartbeat of Tabernacle Township, for the past 62 years. From outside, she exhibits classic beauty, well suited to our home town. Inside, she needs major repairs. We would like to see our township keep with traditions, and honor that long ago gift, by going forward with those repairs. We choose to see our tax dollars spent to repair her, over building something elsewhere. No matter what plans exist, our tax dollars are going to pay for water/plumbing, septic, electrical, paving, and everything else, a public building requires. If our tax dollars are spent to build a completely new building elsewhere, it will include spending more money on a new public works facility, an unneeded recreation area, and the purchase of more land, as well as money spent on our existing Town Hall. Look at the actual business conducted at our Town Hall, and Public Works, on a daily basis. Do we really need to spend extra tax dollars, for new facilities, when we can save this beautiful representation of Tabernacle, instead? We are the public. Petition to retain Paula Salazar-Sartin, Flowery Elementary School Counselor, and Expand Counseling Services at all Sonoma Valley Unified School District Elementary SchoolsWe, the undersigned members of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District community, hereby petition the Board and Superintendent to take immediate action regarding the provision of counseling services in our district elementary schools.Objective 1: Retain Paula Salazar-Sartin at Flowery Elementary SchoolWe urge the Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board and Superintendent to retain Paula Salazar-Sartin, Flowery Elementary School Counselor. Her position was approved to be reduced as part of Resolution No. 2023-24-17 at the February 8, 2024 SVUSD Regular Board Meeting.Paula has been an indispensable asset to our school community for 15 years, providing invaluable support to our students and staff. Flowery Elementary has a student population of about 350 students, and has seen a significant increase in the need for counseling services over the years. Paula has had over 70 referrals for counseling services for the ’23-24 school year alone, which has increased each year since the COVID outbreak. She supports nearly one-fifth of the Flowery student body. Paula also case manages 16 SSTs and 504s. Her role supports and takes pressure off other staff to address issues that she is specifically trained to manage.Last year, a total of 79 students were referred for counseling, and this year, the school is on track to exceed that number. The demand for counseling is increasing each year, and Paula has a full caseload, often with a waitlist. Cutting Paula's position would be detrimental to the well-being of our school community and undermine the successful programs that she has implemented over the years. The program she has fostered at Flowery Elementary should be a model for the other elementary schools in the district.Given the increasing need for counseling services at Flowery, we believe eliminating counseling services will have severe impacts on all students and staff at Flowery. Children directly using these services will be left without the much needed support and guidance Paula provides. The staff and students who are not receiving direct support would contend impacts of those students not receiving that support, the least of which would be disruption to academic instruction so staff can attempt to assist the impacted students.Objective 2: Expand Counseling Services to All Elementary SchoolsWe further petition the Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board and Superintendent to expand counseling services to all elementary school locations within the district. Every student, regardless of their school location, deserves access to comprehensive counseling services to support their social, emotional, and academic development. Counseling services are crucial in addressing a variety of issues, including emotional regulation, anger management, problem-solving, grief and anxiety, modeling social skills, behavior management, depression, social challenges, making friends, crisis intervention (such as suicide safety checks), restorative resolutions, and life skills building.Counselors provide essential support for staff and teachers by identifying red flags concerning student safety, offering classroom management tips, and assisting with student distractions, disruptions, and emotional outbursts that inhibit learning. By having counselors available at all elementary schools, we can diffuse and prevent potential issues from escalating, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students. Additionally, the middle schools have a psychologist and counselor who could work in partnership with counselors at the elementary schools to ensure students' social and emotional needs are met as they transition to the next step in their educational journey in SVUSD.The District has suggested some of the services performed by the school counselor would be absorbed by the elementary school psychologist. However, the psychologist performs assessments and does not have the bandwidth to take on the vital role that the school counselor fills supporting students everyday on site to manage conflict and help students develop and strengthen important social and emotional skills.We urge the Board and Superintendent to prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students by retaining Paula Salazar at Flowery Elementary School and expanding counseling services to all elementary school locations within the district.Thank you for your attention to these urgent matters.

STOP JAPAN FROM DUMPING NUCLEAR WASTE INTO OUR WATERS

The Japanese government’s decision to dispose of nuclear wastewater from the f*ckushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean is raising significant concerns for the rest of the world.As we remember, the nuclear power plant in f*ckushima was destroyed by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami causing three nuclear reactors to melt down. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), which owns the power station, has been cooling the nuclear fuel down using water periodically. However, now with the lack of space to store the water on land, TEPCO and the Japanese government have been pushing a plan to release this radioactive wastewater into the Pacific Ocean.Dumping any sort of wastewater, let alone nuclear wastewater, would pose serious risks to our delicate ecosystem and ultimately the world. Pacific Island nations, for example, rely on the ocean for their survival, as it is crucial to their culture and livelihoods.In fact, earlier this month, China Global Television Network (CGTN) concluded that fish caught in the nuclear plant’s harbor contained levels of radioactive cesium 180 times that of Japan’s legal standard for food safety.The Japanese government has been promoting the safety of the wastewater once it is sufficiently treated, and prefers to refer to it as “purified water”, possibly to distance it from any potential harm in the eyes of the public.The wastewater will still carry traces of contaminants like tritium and radionuclides. If harmful long-lived radionuclides are allowed to spread with the ocean currents, the damage to marine life and human health would be inestimable.Overall, this discharge would be detrimental to the environment, our health, and the economy, affecting us globally.A concrete tunnel under the ocean just a little under a mile away from the storage tanks filled with this wastewater has already been built. There hasn’t been enough research done or time gone by to say there is adequate and accurate scientific data to support and ensure that the disposal meets international safety standards. No matter what the Japanese government says, in the end, this water is not pure as it comes from nuclear reactors. No matter how diluted or how many times tested, this nuclear waste disposal is not a risk we should be willing to take.Let’s work together to make sure the upcoming disposal is delayed for further studies, and maybe we can even stop it from happening at all! Not only could this help alleviate the severe drought conditions they often face, but it could also contribute to combating rising sea levels globally.According to the World Resources Institute, over 17 countries are currently under extremely high water stress, with many of them located in arid regions (World Resources Institute). Building reservoirs can provide a sustainable solution for these regions by storing water during rainy seasons and distributing it during dry periods.Moreover, as per NASA's reports on global climate change, sea levels have been rising at an alarming rate of 3.3 millimeters per year due to melting glaciers and ice sheets (NASA). As an LGBTQ resident of Oklahoma, I am deeply disturbed and frightened by the public remarks made by our representative, Tom Woods. Users trade images of their exes, friends, classmates, asking for ‘nudes of her little sister,’ ‘more of her.’There are thousands of other sites like these.We should all have a right to privacy and agency over images of our bodies. These websites make that impossible.Sites like these are the infrastructure that allows image-based sexual abuse to grow. 1 in 12 people in the USA are victims each year (APA). 706 Mission Street is The Mexican Museum's home!It has come to our attention that in a report prepared by the Audit Division of the Controller’s Office released on March 21, 2024, the Audit Division recommends that the City’s Real Estate Division “develop an alternative use for the space [leased to The Mexican Museum] pursuant to the lease and facilities agreement.” We want to express our strong opposition to the Real Estate Division terminating the lease with The Mexican Museum and Latin American Arts in San Francisco (“The Mexican Museum”) and using 706 Mission Street for anything other than as the new home of The Mexican Museum.We understand that The Mexican Museum disputes the findings of the Audit Division’s report, but, nonetheless, is willing to work with the City and the Office of Investment and Infrastructure by implementing operational changes to achieve the goal of establishing a world class museum in San Francisco that honors Pan-Latino heritage.As you know Latinos make up approximately 40% of the population of California and have been an integral part of the history of San Francisco, California and the United States. Having The Mexican Museum in the heart of the Yerba Buena District will signal to all San Francisco residents and visitors that the City honors that legacy. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a nursing student pursuing my associate degree in nursing. Every day, I witness the heartbreaking reality of our healthcare system - our seniors and disabled patients are being neglected due to inadequate staffing. The corporate decision to spread staffing so thin has resulted in substandard care for those who deserve the utmost attention.The situation is dire, especially in nursing home settings where many residents require constant care. It's not uncommon for one nurse or CNA to be responsible for the care of 15-20 patients at a time, far exceeding recommended ratios by professional health organizations. According to the American Nurses Association, safe nurse-to-patient ratios have been shown to reduce patient mortality rates and improve overall quality of care.It is high time we address this issue head-on. We urge state governments and federal authorities to enforce mandatory staff-to-patient ratios in all healthcare settings, particularly nursing homes. Regarding breeding, co*ckfighting, and the laws that the Congress of the United States of America is passing against this sport, pastime, and to some the way to earn income and support a family. co*ckfighting and everything associated with of game birds its part Hispanic American culture in the United States, we would like to make it clear that prohibiting the raised of game birds and passing arbitrary laws that restrict the breeding raising and fighting of game birds it is a direct violation of our fundamental rights granted by the United States Constitution and also a violation of article 22, 27, 29 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights enacted by the United Nation to our ethnicity and our culture.Since the Spanish colonized this area (the state of Texas) they brought with them customs and traditions that were embedded in our ethnicity and are part of our roots and our culture. Such traditions as charrería,(rodeo) horse racing, and co*ckfights are an integral part of the Hispanic culture; these traditions not only give us a sense of knowing that we belong to a social group, but also help us to maintain our roots and identify us as Latin Americans.Regarding the breeding of gamebirds, this tradition helps us teach our children values such as responsibility, perseverance, courage and more than anything gives them a sense of belonging.We the breeders are tired of the lies that surround this cultural part of our life, to say that co*ckfights attract criminal activities and promote bad habits. In a government that has accumulated a deficit such as ours every possible source of income should be welcome.This is only in the economic aspect. In the cultural aspect; raising game birds gives us a sense of belonging and at the same time keeps our children occupied, teaches responsibility, and prevents vagrancy. This gives them a sense of pride and they learn to appreciate courage, and this also gives them a sense of responsibility, and (with this we prevent them from hanging in the streets becoming vagrants or hood looms or sitting in front of a tv playing video games and becoming obese.)In the Island of Puerto Rico co*ckfights and the breeding of roosters was legal. MMA Mix Martial Arts is a sport of extreme cruelty that incites violence and gambling. Just recently fin the sport of football several high school players as well as college players have died due to brain injuries this is at the amateur level at the professional level there have been many deaths due to the extreme violence sport in which hundreds of players have sustained brain injuries and live with sequels due to blows received. In horse races, horses are beaten with a whip to run faster, and spectators bet to make a profit. The Iditarod dog race where the dogs are raced for eight days under extreme weather conditions, the steeple chase horse raising were the horse is force to jump over barriers and obstacles, resulting in broken legs and ultimately the horse being sacrificed due to injuries sustained, the same can be said of the rodeo (bull riding) where the rider rides the bull and nails the spurs in the side to make it buck for show. I ask you, are these not forms of cruelty? And yet they are legal. It only remains for me to say that there are many of your constituents who do not agree (all registered voters) with certain laws that are passed and that violate our rights as citizens. What happen to “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” This phrase only to be used at your convenience and only when it applies to your own interest.We know as citizens of this great nation that we have the same rights as any individual regardless of nationality or sex, or origin and these rights are granted by the constitution. Regarding breeding, co*ckfighting, and the laws that the Congress of the United States of America is passing against this sport, pastime, and to some the way to earn income and support a family. co*ckfighting and everything associated with of game birds its part Hispanic American culture in the United States, we would like to make it clear that prohibiting the raised of game birds and passing arbitrary laws that restrict the breeding raising and fighting of game birds it is a direct violation of our fundamental rights granted by the United States Constitution and also a violation of article 22, 27, 29 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights enacted by the United Nation to our ethnicity and our culture.Since the Spanish colonized this area (the state of Texas) they brought with them customs and traditions that were embedded in our ethnicity and are part of our roots and our culture. Such traditions as charrería,(rodeo) horse racing, and co*ckfights are an integral part of the Hispanic culture; these traditions not only give us a sense of knowing that we belong to a social group, but also help us to maintain our roots and identify us as Latin Americans.Regarding the breeding of gamebirds, this tradition helps us teach our children values such as responsibility, perseverance, courage and more than anything gives them a sense of belonging.We the breeders are tired of the lies that surround this cultural part of our life, to say that co*ckfights attract criminal activities and promote bad habits. In horse races, horses are beaten with a whip to run faster, and spectators bet to make a profit. The Iditarod dog race where the dogs are raced for eight days under extreme weather conditions, the steeple chase horse raising were the horse is force to jump over barriers and obstacles, resulting in broken legs and ultimately the horse being sacrificed due to injuries sustained, the same can be said of the rodeo (bull riding) where the rider rides the bull and nails the spurs in the side to make it buck for show.
