How long does it take for The Mad Merchant to spawn? ›

He is on a very random spawn timer, reportedly as short as 4 hours, and as long as a few days! Once someone purchases from him (after he has spawned), he will stick around for roughly 1-2 hours before despawning again. As such, it's a courteous move to announce in trade when he spawns!

He can be found tucked away outside and on the left side of the Bank of Dalaran towards the back of the building (between the bank and the Antonidas Memorial). This vendor is a reference to the online FPS game Destiny, as are many of his items (Ingram's Puzzle, Gjallar's "Horn", Mote of Light).

This elegant, beautiful and creeeepy spider mount is sold by a vendor known as "The Mad Merchant" in Dalaran in the Broken Isles. The Mad Merchant isn't there all the time - he only appears in the The Wonderworks sporadically and reports between sightings range from a few hours to a few days!

In order for the Traveling Merchant to spawn, at least 2 other NPCs must already be present. The Guide counts as one of these, but the Old Man and Skeleton Merchant do not. He will not spawn during Solar Eclipses, the Goblin Army, Frost Legion, Pirate Invasion, Martian Madness or if the chat is open.

Note: There is sometimes a bug where duping coins in Journey Mode before you get the 50 silver requirement can cause the merchant to not spawn, to fix this, simply collect 50 silver by killing enemies or breaking pots.

According to the lore, Xur in Destiny 2 comes and goes following planetary alignments, so he's not always in the game, teleporting to one of his usual locations only when the time is ripe.

If you want to know what time the vendor comes to Destiny 2, then start hunting for him in-game every Friday at 6 PM BST/10 AM PT/1 PM ET. Do note, Xur will spawn on a random location that changes each week.

If you have over 50 silver the merchant should move in by the next day. NPCs will only move in during the morning, so you may have to survive a night before you see the merchant move in. NPCs that are moved in will also lower the spawn rate of enemies while you are in the town.

The Skeleton Merchant is an NPC vendor that randomly spawns in the Cavern layer. He is not a Town NPC and will despawn when off-screen, although enemies will not spawn near him. The Skeleton Merchant's stock changes at dawn (4:30 AM) daily, and he does not need to respawn for it to do so.
