What does the MSCI World Index include? ›

The MSCI World Index includes companies from a wide range of industries, including technology, healthcare, financials, and consumer goods.

The MSCI World Index captures large and mid cap representation across 23 Developed Markets (DM) countries*. With 1,430 constituents, the index covers approximately 85% of the free float-adjusted market capitalization in each country.

MSCI FaCS consists of Factor Groups (e.g. Value, Size, Momentum, Quality, Yield, and Volatility) that have been extensively documented in academic literature and validated by MSCI Research as key drivers of risk and return in equity portfolios.

If we assume the returns on the MSCI world index in the past 40 years are a good predictor for future performance, then it is a good investment. On average, non-inflation adjusted returns are around 10% per year, as is typically quoted in most sources.
