There’s still debate about split attraction on my dash why do you people even care

If someone identifies as a bisexual lesbian how does that affect your life? Like actually. Outside of your little online world what tangible difference is it making in your day to day? Some people have complicated relationships to sex and romance. I thought the whole point of the modern queer movement was for people to do as they please and be legally protected.

Yeah maybe you don’t get it. Maybe there’s some identities you’ll roll your eyes at. So? So? Why the hell do you care?

Follow up question why do you all seem hellbent on only changing the definition of lesbian and no other sexuality. Maybe we wouldn't be causing discourse over it if you didnt use a label thats clearly not meant for you.

You know, I chose bi lesbians just like randomly without thinking too hard about it because there’s tons of different ways that split attraction can present itself and it has given me insight into just how angry people act towards bi lesbians.

This post was about split attraction in general. If someone isn’t romantically attracted towards men but is sexually attracted towards them or vice versa I think they deserve the language to talk about it.

The split attraction model has never been exclusive to the aro/ace community. Perhaps the aro/ace community popularized it but if split attraction works for you then idk why people insist upon getting angry about it.

I’m an asexual gay man. People get mad at me about that. People get mad at me for identifying as gay for any number of reasons. Because I’m also into non binary people, because I’m trans, because I’m asexual. You acting like this is only solely about bi lesbians is some severe tunnel vision and missing the point of this post.

Also a lot of people’s reactions to this post have been severely biphobic or aphobic and I’m getting sick of this.

Once in a while I see someone on tumblr saying something like let people be horny you can’t stop people from having sex and I’m like yeah that’s true but it seems weird to be saying that on the horny fandom website let me check your blog and oh yeah you hate asexual people big surprise

If you see someone getting weirdly defensive about sex they might just be having a bad day but I’ve also found it useful to check their blog because a lot of times they seem to be under the impression that asexual people are single-handedly responsible for all sex based oppression or something

When actually most sex-based opression comes from cis-allo people so we're really not who they should be targeting about this.

Asexual and sex averse people are hurt by the exact same systems that sexually active allo people are whether queer or not. Punching down or sideways at asexuals won’t make the cishets like you more.

A lot of people’s aphobia also gets directed towards sex averse people. I am personally an asexual person with a complicated relationship to sex and for me at least that’s very much connected to my asexuality. Saying that aversion to sex and asexuality need to be 100% separated erases a lot of people’s lives experiences. And for a very long time the asexual community has welcomed people who identify as asexual for any number of reasons whether that be purely attraction related reasons or because they don’t like sex or because they’re afraid of sex. We’re welcoming. We always have been. You can come and go as you please for any reason you like.

And before you tell me to research this community I was on AVEN. I’ve given informative lectures on this stuff. I lived through the crusade against asexuals during the 2016-2019 panic. I’ve been fighting the good fight on this stuff for over a decade and I have no personal gripe with you but I will not stand idly by while someone tries to ell me that sex aversion and asexuality don’t get to be connected.

Yes asexuals can be sex positive. Yes non asexuals can be sex averse. But by claiming that the two concepts can never be lumped together you are erasing history that I was personally there for.
