I called on Wednesday 5/15 at 300pm to find out if my old service line was still hot as it was around a tree on county property that I needed to cut back as it was growing over my fence. Duke had recently subcontracted to have the power lines run underground. Duke showed up in less than 3hours and disconnected and removed the old line, which was still hot and trimmed back the tree that the line was tangled in. The crew was from the 7 Springs Yard in New Port Richey Florida and I hope they get recognized for a job well done. Dave **

I have no complaints about Duke energy. All utility companies have increased prices. The customer service is friendly, the app is easy to use and I receive texts when there are outages which happens rarely where I live. Of course hurricane season does impact the outages but I think Duke works hard to restore the power quickly. The negativity is awful.

On 4,20,2024 I called Duke Energy customer service and reported that I had no power. The kind lady's name was Maria. She was so kind and helpful and put someone on the job immediately to fix the problem with my outage. A technician arrived very quickly and responded and resolved all my issues, his name was Kaleb. He was very efficient and helpful and kind. I recommend highly the above service people for any and all considerations that will help them achieve success with their employment. Thank you Duke Energy for your fast and reliable service to your customers and to the state of North Carolina USA and our communities and country and thank you for your promoting clean energy.

A couple days ago I started losing power in several rooms in my house. Not all rooms. I set up my electrician to come out and troubleshoot my panel. At the same time I looked up online and it also recommended calling the utility company which I did. Customer service said there were no outages but would send someone out in four hours. They came out in 2 hours. Coming back from the store there were 2 guys from Duke tracing the problem. (I would give 5 stars, but the workers told me customer service should have read that my smart meter was not supplying the right voltage to the house.) The 2 guys tracked to problem to a very old splice buried in my yard that had melted (separated). The men were very nice, polite and explained the problem and in an hour I had full power back in my house. I give those guys 5 stars. Thanks.

Main supply line to house went out. The crew came out yesterday. Didn't get it right. Called in Saturday morning. Duke crew here in a couple of hours. Got things up and running. Thank you Duke Energy. A couple of surge protectors, coffee maker and garage door opener burn out in the service. Otherwise everything seems to be okay.

This is the worst utility company I have ever seen in my life it no reason for it. They over charge you and as soon as one drop of rain come the power's out. I have never seen anything like this, it's only because unlike other states this dumb state lets one company control all the power in the state so why would they worry about customer service?

Duke Energy has a state of the art, 100+ million dollar headquarters in downtown Charlotte, and consistently fail to provide energy service to the working class of Charlotte. In addition, they charge exceptionally high rates to finance the upkeep of said building. I have never paid more for energy in my life. My groceries have all gone bad in my refrigerator and freezer. No need to fret, though! I’ll just look out the window of my blistering hot apartment and admire said building. Thank you, Lynn Good! I hope you enjoy your well-earned 20 million dollar salary.

I've tried writing this in two customer feedback surveys to Duke in the past year. On submit, both web surveys showed "spinners" and never submitted. So I'm trying again here... I have no qualms with Duke customer focus. They do everything a modern company should do: easy billing and payment, decent communication. I like the programs to encourage and support customer-level energy efficiency.

What I hate is the bottom line: reliability of service. As a military family, we lived many places at various latitudes on three continents and visited more. Duke's service reliability is rock bottom. Actually it was better in Afghanistan. A normal summer thunderstorm rolls through, and power goes out for 1500 people in our area. Nice that it's reported on a web outage map and I get a text, but - sheesh - why is the system so fragile? I've needed to replace broken electronics three times in four years as an NC resident; never before. Of course Duke will sell me surge protection for a monthly fee. How about engineering a more robust infrastructure instead?

This is actually a criminal organization. They have been defrauding their customers and exploiting their territory in the south for years inflating energy prices and using filthy fuel. Not only that, but they will aggressively extort you for more and more each month. Maybe because they paid the largest federal fine in North Carolina history for dumping toxic ash into rivers all over the state? Duke is Satan incarnate.

I am the owner of a 3 unit property and have dealt with Duke for about 8 years now. They have always been consistent and reliable for the most part. But recently I had an issue with a squatter. After I got them out I transferred the electric in my name to fix up the unit for the next tenant, had no issues was very easy to do. But once the tenant moved in they tried to charge her a $330 deposit, which I felt was a bit too much. So, I called Duke and told them to put the service back in my name and I will just have the tenant pay me directly so that she wouldn't be charged that $330, which is just too excessive in these times for someone who isn't making a lot of disposable income.

Duke's credit check wanted to charge me a $330 deposit as well because "service had been changed too recently". I talked to a supervisor, told them the system made a mistake as I already have had service with them for 8 years in another unit and was just trying to add this extra unit to my already existing account. She apologized, listened politely, then told me there was nothing she could do. She was pretty useless, and will likely be replaced by a fully automated AI system soon.

What exactly is the point of having actual people talk to you at these companies if "there's nothing they can do" when an automated system gets it wrong. I've been with them for years and have constantly had to move electric back in my name when tenants move in and out. Duke needs to recognize when their system messes up and correct it. I'm beyond disappointed and would happily move to another company should an alternative option become available.
